17/01179/MFUL Revised Drawings
Proposal: Erection of 28 affordable dwellings, together with associated landscaping, highways and drainage infrastructure
Location: Land at NGR 303340 110341(Land off Silver Street) Willand Devon - [Next to Ash Close]
This application has been ongoing since 28 July 2017 and in the interim there has been discussions between MDDC Planning Officers and the Developer and there have been revisions of plans but detail of all the discussions are not currently in the public domain. It was originally for 29 houses but has been reduced to 28. A number of residents submitted comments in the early stages.
The matter has now been ‘rushed’ since the last revision with little time given for comment. The Parish Council response is rather lengthy but can be read via the Willand or MDDC websites.
The matter is on the Agenda of the Planning Committee for 1415 hours on Wednesday 29 November 2017 with an officer recommendation for approval. The Parish Council are concerned that these houses will not be safeguarded for Willand connected people and there are other policy matters which are not being addressed. Some of these potentially affect safety of people walking from the site to the village and in particularly the school which of course is already over subscribed and so it may be that some residents children will not be accommodated at the local school.
Our Ward Councillor Bob Evans is trying to argue the case for the village with support from Councillor Gillian Doe. If you have a view please come along to the Planning Meeting. Please also share by any means possible with the local residents.
Officers are also recommending the approval of the demolition of the Esso Garage and other business and building of 30 houses and some commercial building in it place and the adjoining field. No account is being given to the fact that about 70 residents wrote in objecting. More on this later but it looks as if Planning Committee will consider it on 3 January 2018!
